Itool For Mac
I am new to CS:GO map making and I would like some tips when it comes to creating maps. I would appreciate ANY feedback and tips.
Some general questions i have:
-
How do I create/where do I get new models for levels from?
-
If i use a model or texture from another map that made it into the game, do i need to credit that map maker, or is everything that is available within hammer 'up for grabs'?
-
How should I go about adding detail to walls and other areas in my map?
-
Is there anywhere I can get free textures from?
-
How do I make my map less bland?
-
Is there any 'golden rules' of map making? (ex. 'Never create narrow hallways' or something similar)
-
What is the trick to making damn arches?

I can't seem to be able to place cylinders, there are always errors.

How do I make a sexy looking loading screen/minimap? I usually have problems because rooftops appear instead of the area below them.
That's all the question I have atm, I am new to this subreddit, I have already checked out some of the tutorials listed here prior to checking this subreddit out, I'll be sure to check out the rest.
Also, I would appreciate any feedback on the maps I have attempted to create before, they are abandoned projects, but i'd still like to see people's opinions, so I know what I should focus on improving/correcting.
(I am not trying to promote my maps, just simply looking for feedback on them.)

What is the best technique/way to apply textures? I end up having blurry textures IG when they appear normal in Hammer. And sometimes the surface that I apply it to is so large that the repeating pattern is blatantly visible.
